Shawn Ash Mohabir
Actor, Writer

About Me
My name is Shawn Ash Mohabir, and my journey as an actor began long before I ever stepped into a classroom. Born in Guyana and raised in New York City from the age of 15, I’ve always been fascinated by the power of storytelling—the way a performance can move, challenge, and connect people across cultures.
I have completed a rigorous 3-year Meisner Technique Training program, which shaped not only my craft, but also my discipline and artistic voice. Through this training, I developed a deep respect for authenticity, emotional truth, and the relentless pursuit of presence on stage and on screen.
As an actor, I’m driven by passion, hard work, and a hunger to tell stories that matter. I gravitate toward dramatic roles that push boundaries and demand vulnerability, and I’m particularly drawn to romantic dramas, medical dramas, crime dramas, horror, and psychological thrillers. These worlds allow me to explore complex characters and layered narratives that stay with audiences long after the credits roll.
Beyond the work itself, I see acting as a collaboration—a chance to join forces with fellow artists, filmmakers, and creators to bring unforgettable stories to life. My ambition is to carve out a place in the film industry where I can continue to grow, challenge myself, and contribute to meaningful and impactful storytelling.
Education
Meisner Technique Program
The Acting Studio New York
For three years, I underwent rigorous and immersive training in the Meisner Technique, developing a disciplined approach to truthful, instinctive, and emotionally authentic performance. The training challenged me to work from genuine impulse, remain fully present with my scene partners, and discover the humanity within every character.
BS of Psychology
American Public University
With an academic background in psychology, I have developed a deep understanding of human behavior, specializing in Personality Psychology and Behavioral Psychology. My studies have given me a particular interest in the complexities of human nature—what drives our choices, shapes our identities, and influences the way we respond to the world around us. I bring this perspective into my work as an actor, using psychological insight to investigate the inner life of a character and create performances that feel layered, truthful, and deeply human.
AS of Arts
Queensboro College
I spent two formative years immersed in the world of theatre and the performing arts. It was during this time that I began to discover the transformative power of storytelling and developed a deeper appreciation for the discipline, vulnerability, and imagination required of an actor. Those early experiences began to develop the foundation of my artistic journey, sparking a lasting curiosity to the art of bringing stories to life. What began as an exploration of the arts in college ultimately became a commitment to pursuing acting as a craft.
